A nurse assistant assists in the day-to-day care of residents and patients. This includes overseeing their vital signs, activities of daily living, nutritional needs, and the safety of their environment.

This program will equip graduates in basic nursing skills, personal care and hygiene skills, methods of specimen collection, ambulation assisting techniques, and standards for observing and reporting to immediate supervisors. Students also obtain knowledge in infection control, sharps handling, isolation methods, prevention of infections, and overall basic knowledge of body systems as well as common medical terminology. Graduates also learn the importance of promoting safety and independence and assisting with ADLs in long-term care.

Once you complete this course, you will receive the Nurse Assistant Certificate and will be prepared to seek related jobs in a healthcare setting.

In order to enroll, you must

• Pass a criminal background check.
• Be at least 17 years of age.
• Have proof of a GED or high school diploma.
• Pass the Ability to Benefit Test in lieu of a high school diploma.
• Pass the employee misconduct registry check (EMR).
• Pass a drug screening.
