A computer support specialist is an information technology (IT) professional who
provides technical assistance, advice, and troubleshooting services to computer users. They handle both
software and hardware issues across organizations.
This program will equip graduates in intermediate to advanced PC repair and
maintenance. Students will also perform advanced PC software repairs while providing excellent customer
service and industry-aligned service to employers. Additional knowledge that students gain includes advanced
configuration and installation of operating systems and troubleshooting personal computers.
A computer support specialist completes the day-to-day tasks of maintaining an
organization's computers. They can troubleshoot hardware and software issues, involve technicians for large
problems, and complete installations and configurations of computers as needed.
Once you complete this course, you may need to gain certain vendor certifications in
order to improve your employability or to satisfy requirements from potential employers. Once you have the
appropriate certifications and gain experience, you may be able to move up in your role to gain more
responsibility or take new roles in the IT field.
In order to enroll, you must
Pass a criminal background check.
Be at least 17 years of age.
Have proof of a GED or high school diploma.
Pass the Ability to Benefit Test in lieu of a high school diploma.
Pass the employee misconduct registry check (EMR).
Pass a drug screening.
